Tohoku Volunteering

EJN organize the volunteer tour for foreigners who are interested in volunteering for the forest of life comitee!

Forest of life located in Minamisanriku Town, Miyagi Prefecture, was severely damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake that struck on March 11, 2011. The city, which was completely washed away by the tsunami caused by the largest disaster in the past once every 600 years, is dotted with villages and harbors that have not even been restored, let alone reconstructed. Furthermore, while true reconstruction is said to be the reconstruction of people's hearts, it is difficult for some of the victims to feel at ease, and there are few projects in the town where people can feel their daily happiness.

In such a city situation, after the Great East Japan Earthquake, volunteers from the townspeople and Minami Sanriku Hotel Kanyo formed an executive committee from 2016 to utilize the mountains owned by the hotel to bring smiles and energy to the people affected by the town. We have started to create a forest that can be regained, a forest as a place for memorial service, and a forest that can be used as a place for disaster prevention and mitigation tradition activities for young people who will lead the next generation.

At Life Forest with a view of the sea, we are always looking for people to work with us in Minamisanriku Town, Miyagi Prefecture.

Thanks to you, many people have participated, but I would like more and more people to come to the site. We have summarized the sea forest in an easy-to-understand manner so that those who do not have the courage or who are wondering whether to participate will be interested in it!
